Family, Couples, and Significant Other Counseling

Counseling at Resource Recovery Center of Orange County

Our fundamental belief is that the more family engagement we promote, the greater the chances for treatment success post discharge.  Over the past year we have made significant strides in the efficacy and volume of family engagement sessions at RRCOOC. On October 24, 2022, our family counseling expert, Gina Mathews, was promoted to Clinical Supervisor.  One of the initial goals for Gina in this new position was to train all primary counselors in family counseling strategies so that we can expand our family service footprint in the community. In addition to traditional family education and counseling, we also initiated couples counseling and support services for significant others.

In circumstances where both members of the couple enter treatment at the same time, we effectively set healthy boundaries for the unique and separate treatment episodes of the couple, while also engaging them in a once weekly couples counseling session. Our efforts led to 184 family contacts in 2022, and we have seen a steady increase in monthly family contacts this year.
